Rolle im Projekt: Birgit Becker interessiert sich besonders für die Frage, wie sich die Rekonfiguration zwischen sozioökonomischen Status und Migrationshintergrund auf die Identitäten, Präferenzen und Verhaltensweisen von Individuen auswirkt, und wie dies zur Reproduktion sozialer Ungleichheiten beiträgt. Anwendungsbereiche für diese Fragen sind einerseits Elternschaftsnormen (RISS-Projekt Nr.2) und anderseits schulische Wirksamkeitsüberzeugungen und Bildungsentscheidungen (RISS-Projekt Nr.4).



Werdegang: Birgit Becker studierte Sozialwissenschaften an der Universität Mannheim (Diplom in 2003) und promovierte dort 2009 im Fach Soziologie. Zunächst war sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Universität Mannheim tätig, 2011 wechselte sie als Juniorprofessorin an die Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. Seit 2014 ist sie Professorin für Soziologie mit dem Schwerpunkt empirische Bildungsforschung an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main am Fachbereich Gesellschaftswissenschaften.
